Mary T. (Ford) Molloy, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at her home in Sharon, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in her family's Boston, Massachusetts home on January 17, 1934, she was the daughter of Irish immigrants, Dennis and Anne (Naughton) Ford. She was raised in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, attending Mission High School. After completing the ninth grade, Mary left her formal education, taking various jobs, including delivering coal and overseeing the four-decker building that her family lived in, all while helping to raise her siblings. She went on to take a position with Raytheon in Norwood, working on the factory floor.
Mary married her beloved husband, John J. Molloy, on February 17, 1954, at the Mission Church in Roxbury. Together they made their first home in Roxbury, where they welcomed their two oldest children, Joseph and Ann Marie. A couple of years later, Mary and John made their home in Dedham, Massachusetts, where they founded J & M Construction, a masonry construction company. While John took care of the heavy lifting, Mary maintained the office, ensuring all aspects of their business were covered. In addition to running the business office, Mary spent some time behind the wheel of a school bus, transporting the students of Dedham. In 1961, Mary and John moved back to the city, settling in the West Roxbury neighborhood, where they welcomed their youngest, Maggie. Not one to remain still, Mary took a position as a housekeeper for the CEO of Sheraton Corporation, working first at his home in Dedham before moving to his house near Beacon Hill. Mary and John left the city for good in 1972, making their home in the quiet suburban town of Sharon, Massachusetts, where they had built their dream home. As Mary welcomed her grandchildren, she began her career in childcare, opening her home to many children over the years.
While Mary stayed busy through most of her life, she always made time for one of her favorite hobbies, knitting. She crafted many Irish Knit Sweaters over the years, ensuring each child that she cared for had one made just for them. She also made time for an occasional trip to one of the area casinos, trying her Irish luck on the slot machines. Back at home in Sharon, Mary loved surrounding herself with her rescue pets, including dogs, cats, and ducks. She even went on a long-distance rescue, bringing her beloved Irish Wolf Hound, Seanog, home from Ireland.
