Maryelaine Thurber

June 21, 1948 — March 30, 2022

Maryelaine Thurber, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Medway Country Manor in Medway, Massachusetts.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on June 21, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Darrell and Margaret (Taylor) Albee.  She was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1966.  Mary continued her education at Burdett College of Business and Shorthand, earning her certificate in 1968.  While attending Burdett, Mary worked part-time for the Foxboro Company and after her graduation, she became a full-time employee.

Mary became reacquainted with a high school friend, David E. Thurber, at a local laundromat in Walpole Center, after he had returned from his active-duty military service.  After a short courtship, they were married on June 12, 1971, in Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole.  The young couple initially made their home in Norwood, before settling in Foxborough, Massachusetts in 1975.  Mary went on to take a position with Mar-El Jewelry Distributors in Walpole, working in the payroll department.  She remained with Mar-El for over twenty years, until their closure, after which she took a position in the cafeteria of Foxborough High School and went on to work at Blockbuster Video in Walpole.

When she wasn't working or caring for her family, Mary enjoyed her quiet time.  She was an avid reader, who sought out the latest romance novels.  As someone with a green thumb, Mary spent countless hours cultivating her flower gardens.  She also enjoyed an annual summer trip with her husband, Dave, to Bar Harbor, Maine.
