Matina (Constas) Glaropoulos, 85, of Walpole, MA passed away on May 25, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Gargaliani, Messenia, Greece. Daughter of the late Christos and Costoula (Dasakis) Constas.
Matina was devoted wife of 62 years to her late husband George, Mother of Demetrios ”Jimmy” Glaropoulos, Basilios “Bill” Glaropoulos and his wife Erica, Christos “Chris” Glaropoulos and his fiancé Sarah, and Constantine “Costa” Glaropoulos and his wife Karen. Cherished Yiayia of Katie Matina, George, Christian, Terrence, George, Matina, Logan, Matina, and Sadie.
Loving sister of the late Olympia Constas and Loving sister-in-law to the late Anna Stavropoulos and her husband John Stavropoulos and Konstantinos Glaropoulos and his wife Anna. Loving aunt of Vicki Nikopoulos and her husband Michael, Dimitrios Glaropoulos and his wife Roula, Demetrios Stavropoulos, and George Stavropoulos and his wife Elenie. Also survived by many relatives and friends here and in Greece.
In 1956, at the age of 16, Matina came to America with her parents and sister. She met the love of her life, and they married in 1962. They started their life together in Jamaica Plain, MA and later made their home in Norwood, MA for 20 years, where they raised four sons. They later moved to Dover, MA and recently moved to Walpole, MA to be close to their children.
Matina and George traveled back and forth to their second home in Greece often. She was a devout Orthodox Christian.
Matina was a deeply compassionate individual whose life was marked by her commitment to helping others. She was a passionate supporter of the Annunciation Cathedral Philoptochos, contributing to the Hellenic Nursing Home and tirelessly volunteering her time. She invited many patients from Greece that needed local medical treatments into her home and transporting them to their appointments.
Funeral Service on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England, 514 Parker Street, Boston, MA at 11:00 AM. There will be a brief visitation prior to the Service from 10:30AM to 11:00 AM at the church.
Visitation of Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole, MA from 4PM to 8PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Annunciation Cathedral Philoptochos Chapter #3014 – 162 Goddard Avenue Brookline, MA 02445.
Burial in The Gardens Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA.
