Michael Alan Wojdag, age 74, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2024, at the Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on February 14, 1950, he was the son of Adolph and Blanche A. (Grossewicz) Wojdag. Mike was raised in East Walpole, Massachusetts.
After Mike's graduation from Walpole High School with the class of 1968, he began working at Bird and Son, a roofing company based in East Walpole. Every day, as part of their logistics team, Mike would receive the supplies necessary for the upcoming builds from the many railcars that would come to deliver the goods. He played an integral role in the workflow, ensuring that each item needed was properly received and sorted into its place. Mike later took a position with Hollingsworth and Vose, also in East Walpole, where he continued to work as a receiver for the company until his retirement in 2012.
Mike lived in Norwood for many years until settling in North Attleborough, Massachusetts in 2018. He was a quiet, kindhearted, and sweet man, who enjoyed listening to the Beatles and other oldies from the 1960's. He was stubbornly independent, never wanting to ask for help, but always willing to give it. In his free time, Mike could be found enjoying a crossword puzzle or reading a book. Mike was a history buff and enjoyed reading about his favorite historical events and autobiographies about historical figures. He was also an avid sports fan; never missing a New York Giants game, looking forward to the Red Sox season opener each year, and cheering on the Bruins when their puck hit the ice.
Brother of Joanne Rath, and her husband Alan, of South Carolina, Robert Wojdag, and his wife Jane, of North Attleborough, Dennis Wojdag of Walpole, Denise DiMarzio, and her husband Mike, of Franklin, the late Carol Michaud, and her late husband Roland, the late Marilyn Caputo, and her surviving husband Rocco of Franklin, and the late Julia Burlone, and her late husband Tony.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Michael's Life Celebration on Friday, August 2nd, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
Interment will be private.
