Muriel Olive (Moore) Wise, age 96, passed away on September 12, 2025, at her home in Franklin, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on October 4, 1928, she was the daughter of George Stanley and Helen M. (Treen) Moore. Muriel was raised in Norwood until 1938 when her family moved to the neighboring town of Walpole, Massachusetts. In her new hometown, she found treasured lifelong friends. She frequently recalled their adventures throughout Norfolk County. Muriel graduated with the Walpole High School class of 1946, and attended many of the reunions that followed.
Shortly after graduation Muriel accompanied her sister,Thelma, on a move to Long Beach, California where they lived with extended family and Muriel worked as a childcare provider. A few years later, Muriel would return home to Walpole, where she held a variety of jobs including at a local chicken processing factory where she plucked feathers and another as a seamstress where she learned to design and sew slipcovers. Again, Muriel became a caregiver, this time to her father during his battle with cancer until his passing in 1950.
One of the most important roles in Muriel's life was that of a mother. She and her husband, Philip S. Wise, welcomed four children during their marriage, three sons and a daughter, whom she stayed home to raise. With her children grown, Muriel returned to the workforce, accepting a position with the March of Dimes.
Muriel was a woman of faith, which she shared with her children. She enjoyed warm weather gardening and cold weather ice skating. She had a fondness for Canada, as it was home to extended family, and visited often throughout her life. Muriel occasionally wove in time to sketch and paint with watercolors.
In her retirement, she made her home at Forge Hill Senior Living in Franklin, creating many wonderful friendships over the course of two decades living there.
