Patricia A. MacLeay

May 7, 1935 — December 4, 2022

Patricia A. (O'Connor) MacLeay, age 87, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Briarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Needham, Massachusetts.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 7, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Grace (Kernan) O'Connor.  She was raised in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and graduated from Cathedral High School with the Class of 1953.  Patricia continued her education at the Catherine Laboure School of Nursing, earning the title of Registered Nurse in 1955.  With her degree in hand, Patricia took a position with the Chestnut Nursing Home in Needham and went on to make her home in West Roxbury, before settling in Westwood, Massachusetts in 1964.

Patricia stepped away from her career as her family grew, taking on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young children.  As her children grew up, Patricia returned to the nursing field, taking a position with the Eastwood Nursing Home in Dedham.  Ten years later, she settled into her nursing position at the Deutches Altenheim, where she cared for her patients over the next fifteen years before her retirement in 2010.

Throughout her life, Patricia remained close with her group of friends, looking forward to group outings for either a shopping extravaganza or a meal at one of her favorite restaurants.  She also enjoyed traveling with her family, making countless trips to the Washington, DC area to spend time with her daughter, Caryn, and her grandchildren.  However, Patricia's favorite trip was to Ireland to celebrate her 70th birthday.  Back at home, she enjoyed some quiet time, finding a new book to get lost in or knitting baby clothes for her grandchildren.

Loving mother of Cathy A. Andrew of Norwood, James F. MacLeay of Shrewsbury, Caryn M. Reblin and her husband, Gary, of Falls Church, Virginia, and the late Gordon M. MacLeay.
