Paul Michael Grasso, age 61, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Newport Hospital in Newport, Rhode Island, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on September 10, 1961, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Veronica Marie (Raymond) Grasso. Paul was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1980.
Following his graduation, Paul took over his uncle, Joe Grasso's, variety store, rebranding as the Can Connection, in South Norwood. While running the business, Paul made his home in Norwood, where he met his fiancé, Lisa G. Wasnewsky. After selling his business, Paul went on to make his home with Lisa in Canton and Walpole, before settling in Portsmouth, Rhode Island in 2000. Paul's career led him to helping others clean out their homes, always on the lookout for lost treasure in the form of an antique that he could restore. He continued operating his business in Rhode Island for many years, often getting dispatched to homes in the Newport area.
As a political aficionado, Paul looked forward to spirited discussions about the current state of affairs of the country and volunteered with Mitt Romney's Election Committee, demonstrating his support. He also enthusiastically supported the Potter League in Rhode Island, adopting many cats over the years from their local shelter. After settling in Portsmouth, Paul enjoyed spending time by the water, sitting on the beach or visiting one of his favorite seafood restaurants. Back at home, he was great in the kitchen, trying out new recipes or perfecting one of his Italian or seafood dishes. Once the cool air of autumn moved into the area, Paul knew it was time to trade in the beach chair for his couch as he cheered on his favorite team, the New England Patriots.
Beloved fiancé of Lisa G. Wasnewsky.
Loving brother of Helen Grasso and her husband, Michael Devlin, of Shirley, Ellen E. Grasso of Christiansburg, Virginia, and David Grasso and his wife, Carla, of Norton.
