Phyllis Elaine Piasecki

Phyllis Elaine (Smith) Piasecki, age 82, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston on October 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Robin and Doris Mae (Clark) Smith. Phyllis was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1960.  Following her graduation, Phyllis took a position with Netronix in Needham, working as a switchboard operator.

Phyllis married her beloved husband, John Edward "Jack" Piasecki, on July 15, 1962, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole, while he was on leave from the Navy.  The young couple would go on to make their home in Walpole, where Phyllis transitioned to the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her two children, Barbara and John.  As her children grew up, Phyllis returned to the working world, taking a position in the cafeteria of the Fisher School in Walpole, later transferring to the cafeteria at Walpole High School.  In the early 1980s, Phyllis had a change of career path, taking a job with Hill's Machine Shop in Walpole, serving as a buyer.  She took her newly found skills to Hollingsworth and Vose in East Walpole, working as a buyer until her retirement in 2005.  Following her retirement, Phyllis enjoyed caring for her twin granddaughters, Ashleigh and Brianna, and loved taking an active role in their lives.

Throughout her life, Phyllis loved to travel with her beloved Jack.  Together they enjoyed many tropical adventures, visiting Saint Martin and Hawaii, as they were truly their favorite destinations.  Phyllis and Jack also took memorable trips to Europe, visiting England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland.  Traveling was so much more than getting on a plane to visit some far-off destination, as the journey was half the fun.  Phyllis and Jack quickly learned that the journey could be better enjoyed on the deck of a cruise ship, making the trip a true experience.  Their favorite cruise was in 2012, when Phyllis and Jack celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a ship circling the Hawaiian Islands, a true paradise for the couple.

Back at home in Walpole, Phyllis maintained a busy social calendar.  She was a member of the Walpole VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years, joining her fellow members and friends for a friendly game or two of poker at the post.  In more recent years, Phyllis enjoyed the comradery of the Walpole Senior Center, looking forward to seeing her friends and helping out where she could.
