Priscilla Freeman Chick

October 13, 1935 — January 27, 2021

Priscilla Freeman Chick passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 after a lengthy period of ill health.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband Parker Newhall Chick, Jr., her parents Alvin J. Freeman and Elinor Ferris Freeman of Norfolk, MA and her brother David Freeman of Hingham, MA and Bridgton, ME.  Parker and Priscilla were married for over 64 years.

Priscilla was born in Framingham, MA on October 13, 1935.  She attended Walpole High School, graduating in 1953.  Priscilla attended nursing school at Boston Children’s Hospital earning her LPN certification.  Priscilla and Parker raised their family in Norfolk, Norwood, Walpole, MA and Darien, CT, before finally retiring to Chatham, Massachusetts.

Priscilla always worked as a nurse while raising her children. She worked for many years at Norwood Hospital, at Stamford Hospital and in several OB/GYN practices in Connecticut and Massachusetts.  She returned to school at Massachusetts Bay Community College in her fifties to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing with her RN certification. Her classmates affectionately called her “Grammie”.

Priscilla was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Norwood, MA, Epiphany Episcopal Church in Walpole, MA and finally at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Chatham, MA.  Priscilla volunteered in several different roles at St. Christopher’s including parish nurse, but none was as important to her as the beloved Gift and Consignment Shop, where she could reliably be found helping consignors on Tuesdays for many years.

For years Parker and Priscilla belonged to a faithful group of friends who got together outside during the summer months for cocktails and a picnic dinner on Thursday evenings.  After moving to Chatham, Priscilla enjoyed going to water aerobics, with a loyal group of women who dubbed themselves “The Mermaids”.  Priscilla was a kind friend who could always be counted on to lend a hand. She made many new friends after moving to The Woodlands Assisted Living in Brewster, MA.

Priscilla is survived by her brother Jim and his wife Angela Freeman of Sarasota, FL   and by her children: Candace Chick and Mark Jalbert of Dorchester, MA; Penelope Chick and Rory Rothman of Ithaca, NY; and Pamela (Chick) and Dan Paterson of Westwood, MA. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Kate, Oliver, Jade, Kyle, Emily and Hannah. Priscilla is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and their extended families.

Memorial donations may be made to: St. Christopher’s Church, 625 Main Street, Chatham, MA 02633 or Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod, 411 Main Street, Suite 6, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675.
