Richard C. Connors, age 84, passed away in the New England Sinai Hospital on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Ross and Mary (Kennedy) Connors. Richard spent his early years in South Boston, before settling in Norfolk, Massachusetts with his family in 1940, where Richard and his mother lived on their own, while his father and brothers were serving in the armed forces during World War II. Richard attended Norfolk Primary School before graduating from Walpole High School with the Class of 1951. He continued his education at Providence College, earning his Bachelor's Degree in 1955.
Richard married his beloved wife, Nancy Lavallee, on November 11, 1955 in Saint Mary's Church in Wrentham, beginning their 62 years of happiness together. Shortly after their wedding, he and Nancy made their home in a house trailer, while Richard finished his active duty time in the United States Army. Upon his discharge, they lived in rental homes in Wrentham and Foxboro, where as a young man with a college degree, Richard quickly found work with the Raytheon Company. In 1961, Richard and Nancy built their own home in Norfolk on Everett Street and their family began to grow in 1966 with the adoption of his son, Todd Leo, and in 1968, as he welcomed his second son, Christian Douglas.
Richard had a long and prosperous career with Raytheon, traveling to several parts of Europe twice a year to negotiate contracts. He retired in 1994, as the subcontracts manager of Raytheon, after 38 years of dedicated service.
After his retirement, Richard dedicated himself to his hometown of Norfolk. He was an active member of the Norfolk Council on Aging and was involved in the construction of their building. In addition, Richard served on the Baystate Correction Committee, Community Preservation Committee, Old Fire Station Study Committee, and the Zoning By-Law Study Committee. He also enjoyed giving back to the youth of Norfolk, serving as a manager for a little league team in town for four years, and making personal friends with each of his players. For all of his good work done in the Town of Norfolk, he was awarded a plaque, noting each of his valuable contributions to his community.
Richard was truly a good friend to many and a dedicated father and friend to his sons, but most important, he was a devoted, caring husband to his loving wife and best friend, Nancy. He was kind, caring, and always had a great sense of humor. Together, Richard and Nancy spent many happy years together, he will be truly missed.
