Richard M. "Ricky" Luongo

August 15, 1958 — December 6, 2018

Richard M. “Ricky” Luongo, age 60, passed away in the Boston Medical Center on Thursday, December 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Winchester, Massachusetts on August 15, 1958, he was the son of Joseph A. and Mary Carmen (Sarno) Luongo.  Ricky spent his early years in Reading, Massachusetts before settling with his family in Walpole.  At a young age, Ricky found his love for the drums and played throughout his high school career at Walpole High School, before graduating with the Class of 1976.

After graduation, Ricky took a position with the Polaroid Corporation in Norwood and later worked in their offices in Waltham, Needham, and New Bedford.  Once Polaroid closed their doors, Ricky took a job with the Waters Corporation in Franklin, working in distribution.

As an avid outdoorsman, Ricky was a long-time member of the Medfield Sportsman Club and loved spending time at his camp in Liberty, Maine.  He was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church for all of his life, volunteering to serve as an usher and taking the collection during the 7:30 Sunday morning Mass and at midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.  In addition, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1319 in Walpole for many years.  However most of all, Ricky’s passion was playing the drums.  He spent countless hours perfecting his technique and enjoyed the opportunity to sit in with a local band.

Devoted son of Mary Carmen (Sarno) Luongo of Walpole and the late Joseph A. Luongo, Jr.
Loving brother of Joseph A. Luongo, III and his wife Kathleen of Walpole, Stephen Luongo and his wife Denise of North Attleboro, Marianne McBroom and her husband Robert of North Kingston, Rhode Island, John F. Luongo and his loving companion Cheryl Jones of North Attleboro, and David Luongo and his wife Sharon of Walpole.
Cherished uncle of Natalie, Matthew, Anthony, Crystal, Julianna, Robert, Maryanne, Amanda, David, Christopher, and the late Michael.
Also survived by his longtime dear friend, Ann Marie Cunningham.
