Richard R. Tracey

October 14, 1953 — October 20, 2022

Richard R. "Dick" Tracey, age 69, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Webster, Massachusetts on October 14, 1953, he was the son of the late Weston P. and Anna (DeNardis) Tracey.  He was raised in Webster and graduated from Bartlett High School with the Class of 1972.  Following his graduation, Dick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country.  He spent some time stationed in San Diego, California before being deployed during the Vietnam War.    He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan serving as an MP before joining the USS Tripoli and the USS New Orleans.   He completed his tour of duty in Quantico, Virginia.  Upon his honorable discharge in 1979, Dick returned home to Webster and began working various jobs.

Dick got his start in the grocery business with Garelick Farms in Franklin and after settling in Norwood, Massachusetts, he took his knowledge of the dairy business to Heartland in Walpole.   After working in several positions, Dick realized he was a jack of all trades, but master of one; frozen foods.  He spent several years in the frozen food departments of Roche Brothers in Westwood and City Foods in Cambridge, before returning to his old stomping grounds of Webster, serving as the frozen food manager of Price Chopper.

Throughout his life, Dick was always on the search for a great cup of locally brewed coffee.  While living in the Webster area, he found his favorite cup at Dippin Donuts and after settling in Walpole, Massachusetts a year ago, he quickly discovered the coffee at Country Kitchen.   Throughout his life with his coffee in hand, Dick would venture out with his fishing pole and following in his father's footsteps would often head to his favorite spot at Webster Lake.  Most of all, Dick's world revolved around his children.  As an avid sports fan, he was always first to volunteer to coach, serve as an umpire, or scorekeeper for his children's teams.    When all the roles were filled, he would stand on the sideline, enthusiastically supporting them. Dick's tradition of supporting his family at all their events carried through to his grandchildren, watching and cheering for them at all their competitions.

Loving father of Christopher A. Tracey of Norwood, Daniel R. Tracey of Norwood, Laurie A. Graziano and her husband, Brian, of Kingston, and Kelly M. Hull and her husband, Robert, of Plainville.   Cherished grandfather of Timothy J. Blanchard, Olivia M. Graziano, Leah R. Hull, and Nicolas W. Graziano; and great grandfather of Isabelle R. Blanchard.  Brother of the late Robert A. Tracey.
