Robert Anthony Bibbo

Robert Anthony Bibbo, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his home in Sharon, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Milford, Massachusetts on October 14, 1947, he was the son of the late Anthony and Laura (Bartelloni) Bibbo. Bob spent his early years in Milford before moving to Sharon. As a young boy, Bob found his passion soccer, taking his abilities to Sharon High School, playing on the varsity team before graduating in 1965. After a year or so at Newman Preparatory School in Boston, Bob was accepted into a bachelor's degree program at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. In addition to his studies at Mass Maritime, Bob continued to hone his skills on the school's soccer field, prior to his graduation in 1971. Following his graduation, Bob was commissioned into the United States Navy, working his way up to the rank of Lieutenant. In 1973, Bob accepted a position aboard the Massport Fire Boat in Boston Harbor, starting his career as a marine engineer.

Bob married his beloved wife, Mary C. Curran, on May 18, 1980, at Saint Joseph's Church in Hyde Park. The couple made their home in Sharon, welcoming two children, Laura and Bobby. Bob's maritime career continued to evolve, finishing out his Naval Reserve service in 1983 and taking to the sea on larger vessels as a marine engineer. He worked for the Zeppata Oil Company based in Texas, HVIDIE based in Florida and became a member of the American Maritime Officers (AMO) Union. The last ship that he served aboard was the Seabulk Challenger before his retirement in 2009.

Back at home, Bob loved being surrounded by his friends, who essentially encompassed everyone, everywhere. Known at "The Beeb" to everyone he loved, Bob could be found behind the bar at the Sharon VFW, Thursday night car shows at Bass Pro in Foxboro, at a Jimmy Buffet or Beach Boys concert, or in his garden drawing on his Italian roots to grow the best tomatoes. As a man who could fix anything, he was the go-to Dad for all of his kid’s friends, putting everyone before himself.

More than anything, Bob was a devoted family man. He loved the opportunity to be home from sea three months at a time to be with those he loved. As a proud Dad, he ensured that he brought Laura and Bobby to their college tours, checking out the campus and making a lasting impression on the students and faculty. Bob was delighted to welcome his grandchildren into the world, taking an active role in their lives and never missing a practice, game, or event. In recent years, Bob loved gathering his family every summer in Marstons Mills on the Cape for a week of fun with everyone he loved so much.

Loving father of Laura E. Lane and her husband, Timothy, of Norwood and Robert J. Bibbo and his wife, Courtney, of Walpole.

Cherished grandfather of Jack Lane, Dylan Bibbo, and Hannah Bibbo.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Bob's visitation on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place privately at a later time.
