Robert A. Cantwell

March 23, 1951 — March 23, 2021

Robert A. Cantwell, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 23, 1951.  The family moved to Walpole in 1957.  He graduated from Walpole High School in 1970 where he was on the track team for several years.

Following his graduation, Bob worked for Warren Young' Company for many years and he worked at Gilmore's, Inc. in Walpole until his retirement.

When he wasn't at work, Bob enjoyed some quiet time at home, expanding his knowledge of World War II with a good book.  His love for reading did not end with World War II, as he loved reading and learning about history throughout the world, making him the coveted partner at any trivia night.  In addition to being an avid reader, Bobby loved relaxing watching a western film or listening to his favorite music from the 1950s.

Devoted son of the late Laurier J. "Laurie" and Gertrude "Gerry" (Lydon) Cantwell.
Loving brother of Elaine M. Gazerro of Norwood, Lee A. Cantwell of Wrentham, Joanne L. Bethoney and her husband, Peter T., of Medway, Timothy P. Cantwell of Walpole, and Jill E. Bowen and her late husband, John T., of E. Walpole.
Cherished uncle of Ann Marie Lepage and her husband, Michael, Kristen Gazerro, Jamie Gazerro, Christopher Pungitore, Laurier Pungitore, Peter Bethoney, Alyssa Bethoney, Julia Bowen, Aidan Bowen, and the late Jenna Pungitore.  He was a great uncle of Dennis Tower, and Michaela Lynch.

As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Bobby's family has decided that his funeral services will be private, with interment taking place in Rural Cemetery in Walpole.  A Celebration of Bobby's life will be held at a later date, when all can gather without restrictions.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Active Day of Norwood, 595 Pleasant Street, Norwood, MA 02062.

Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, Walpole.
