Robert "Robin" C. Ellis, Jr.

March 15, 1941 — October 27, 2020

Robert "Robin" C. Ellis Jr, age 79, passed away peacefully in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on October 27, 2020, surrounded by his family and close friends.  Born in Viejo, California on March 15, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert and Madeline (Presentato) Ellis.  He was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1959.  Robin continued his education at Hillsdale College in Michigan, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1965.

Upon Robin's return to his hometown of Walpole, he first took a position with Knox, Inc before moving on to the Bird Johnson Company in the Rolls Royce Division on Norfolk Street in 1969.  However, more notably, Robin purchased the Barleycorn Pub in Walpole Center in 1983.  He owned and operated the pub for more than twenty years, retiring in 2004.

While Robin kept busy, he always made time to catch his favorite New England Sports team compete or to strike up a conversation with friends and acquaintances about politics.  He especially enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing and looked forward to his trips to Saratoga Racecourse over the years.  Over the years, Robin purchased several horses, first under the name of R&E Stables with his close friends, Dennis Nolfi, John Hall, Paul Roach, and Marsha Roach.  He later purchased horses with his friends from the Barleycorn under the name Starmont Stables.

Beloved husband of the late Winifred G. (Grabau) Ellis.
Stepfather of Thomas Eisele of Norwood.
Cherished grandfather of Samantha, Thomas Jr., and Keith.
