Robert G. Schuller

February 23, 1938 — May 30, 2019

Robert G. Schuller, age 81, passed away peacefully in Walpole Healthcare in Walpole, Massachusetts on Thursday, May 30, 2019.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on February 23, 1938, he was the son of the late John L. and Margaret (Smith) Schuller.  He was raised in Norwood, attending Norwood High School, where he found his passion for the drums.  Following his high school graduation in 1956, Bob continued his education at Lowell Teacher’s College before starting course work at Boston University.  His love for music led him to start his professional drumming career, playing with various bands on the weekends.

Bob married his beloved wife, Anne Leach, on July 24, 1960 in Quincy, Massachusetts. The young couple made their home together in Norwood, and in the mid-1960s, Bob began taking classes at the North Bennett School in Boston, earning his certification as a piano technician.  While living in Norwood, Bob welcomed his two daughters, Lauren and Kristin, as he embarked on his new career as a self-employed piano tuner and repairman.  As his family out grew their home in Norwood, an opportunity arose in Walpole, Massachusetts to purchase a plot of land with two houses.  Acting quickly, Bob and Anne purchased the property in 1971, making their new home in Walpole, alongside Anne’s parents.  Bob’s career truly flourished as he took care of countless pianos, including for the public schools in Norwood, Foxborough, and Framingham.  In addition to working with pianos, Bob never lost his love for playing his drums.  On any given weekend, he could be found playing five shows with his favorite bands, providing hours of entertainment.

When he wasn’t hard at work, Bob could be found at home caring for his yard and flower gardens.  As the sun set, he would head to his basement, where he would have up to five pianos at any point in time, ensuring they were repaired and well cared for.  In August of 2018, Bob passed his Walpole home on to his grandson, ensuring the property he purchased many years ago remained in the family, and settled into his daughter’s home in Taunton.

Beloved husband of Anne L. (Leach) Schuller.
