Roberta Catherine (Duff) McCormack, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Foremost of Sharon, Massachusetts. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 15, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William Ralph and Mary Rosborough (Mosher) Duff. She was raised in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, where she graduated from Jamaica Plain High School with the Class of 1944. Roberta continued her studies at Northeastern University, taking courses in accounting and finance.
While studying at Northeastern, Roberta met her husband to be, Thomas McCormack. They were married on August 27, 1950, in Holy Name Church in Jamaica Plain. The young couple made their home in Norwood, Massachusetts and Roberta quickly found work with the Norfolk County Trust in Norwood Center, working as a bank teller. She went on to take a position with Elm Street Bank in Dedham, working in the accounting department and remaining with the organization through the Bay Bank buyout. In 1962, Roberta and Thomas settled in Walpole, Massachusetts and shortly thereafter, she took a position in the accounting department of General Electric in Westwood. Roberta returned to her education at Northeastern while working at GE, taking night classes to earn her bachelor's degree. Roberta remained with GE until her retirement in 1981. In her retirement, Roberta spent countless hours volunteering with the Walpole Historical Society, preserving the history of the town. She also found time to give back to her faith community, regularly attending services and volunteering with the Grace Episcopal Church in Norwood.
Following her retirement, Roberta looked forward to her many travels, enjoying trips and adventures around the world. Back at home, she enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to her vegetable garden or ensuring the plantings around her home were set perfectly. Roberta enjoyed some quiet time too, crocheting blankets for her family.
