Ronald August Swanson, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on August 3, 1939, he was the son of Ronald and Linnea (Kallstrom) Swanson. Ron was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1958.

Following his graduation, Ron spent a couple of years working at Wilbur Williams Paint in Norwood. He was later drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. While serving on active duty, Ron was stationed in Germany, working with the ordnance division, helping with assembly. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Ron returned home to Walpole and began his career at the Norfolk County Agricultural High School. Ron spent an amazing twenty-seven years with the Aggie, serving as a custodian, until his retirement in 2005.

Throughout his life, Ron loved staying active in sports. As a young man, Ron looked forward to lacing up his skates for a game of ice hockey or gathering with friends for a pickup game of softball. As Ron got a bit older, he took to the golf courses of Heather Hill, Wayland Country Club, Sandy Burr Country Club, and Easton Country Club, playfully competing with his brother, Rich. The two brothers also enjoyed some friendly competition at Petracca's Lanes in Walpole, always looking to better their own scores. In more recent years, Ron and Rich met for lunch at the 99 or the Red Wing, taking time to discuss days gone by and catch up with some laughs. At home, Ron enjoyed staying busy around his house, making repairs and updates, or tending to his gardens.

Devoted son of the late Ronald and Linnea (Kallstrom) Swanson.

Brother of Richard E. Swanson of Dedham.
