Sandra A. Bangerskis, of East Walpole, MA, died Friday April 19, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness with cholangiocarcinoma. She was 68.
Sandra was born in Boston to Ausma and Arturs Kadikis. She grew up in Dedham and attended the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. Sandra began her career with the Howard Johnson Companies and later joined Ocean Spray Cranberries where she worked for 32 years in quality and product planning.
Sandra’s greatest joy in life was her family. In 1980, she married Karl Bangerskis and settled in East Walpole where she raised two daughters: Laura and Monika. She was a devoted mother involved in all aspects of her daughter’s lives. A young Laura once wrote…” Happy Birthday Mom! I hope you know how much I love you. You are such an inspiration. Your love, wisdom, kindness, and strength are all traits I admire about you. Thank you for always being there for me. Love, Laura”.
Sandra had a lifelong love of the ocean. As a child she spent many summers vacationing on Waquoit Bay and more recently at her summer home on Martha’s Vineyard. She was an avid reader and a passionate backyard badminton player. She always enjoyed hosting family gatherings during the holidays.
Sandra is survived by her mother, her husband, her daughter Laura Bangerskis, her daughter Monika Chmielinski and her husband Aidan, her granddaughter Penelope Chmielinski, her brother Karl Kadikis and his wife Cindy, her cousin Daina Mead and her husband Dan Austin, and relatives in Connecticut, Colorado, and the United Kingdom. She was predeceased by her father and her sister Sylvia Kadikis.
A Graveside Service will be held at a later date at the Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, 5526 West 13400 South #510, Herriman, UT 84096
