Sandra Goula

Sandra (St. Amand) Goula, more commonly known as Sandy, age 83, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham, Massachusetts. Born in Augusta, Maine on June 21, 1943, she was the daughter of Roland Arthur St. Amand and Rita (Obar) Raymond. Sandy spent part of her early years attending the Marcotte Home, run by the Roman Catholic Society of the Sisters of Charity. Sandy spoke frequently about her found memories there, speaking French Canadian, and forming close relationships with the Nuns who worked there; building a foundation of strong Catholic faith. After her time at Marcotte, Sandy later moved to East Hartford, Connecticut with her mother. There she attended high school, graduating from East Hartford High School with the class of 1961.

After graduation, Sandy worked for Travelers Insurance and later bought a home in Enfield, Connecticut and spent many summers at the beach house in Warwick, Rhode Island. Sandya loved the beach and loved visiting the summer home, something she shared with her children Stephen and Rhonda. She kept in touch with the Nuns from the convent at the Marcotte, writing them letters and inviting them to join her family for vacations at the summer home.

Sandy had a vast career working for a variety of companies, most notably Katharine Gibbs School and Citizens Bank. In 1991 she moved to her summer house in Warwick full time, remaining there until September of 2024 when she moved to Walpole Massachusetts to be closer to family. Sandy worked at Citizens Bank for over twenty-five years, retiring when she was seventy-two. Beloved by her workplace family she earned not one, but two retirement parties as she frequently pointed out.

In her free time, Sandy loved to spend time with family and friends. She remained close with her siblings, frequently talking to her sisters almost every day. A self-described people person, Sandy found herself making friends everywhere she went, especially the grocery store! She never hesitated to introduce herself to strangers, approaching with a friendly smile and ready to chat. Sandy also enjoyed traveling, visiting Rome, Poland, and many parts of the US. She loved opera, shopping and fashion, with a closet full of clothes altered to fit her perfectly, along with jewelry, shoes and accessories to match. She was always ready to go out to eat and don’t forget the ice cream! Her faith was a beacon in any darkness, guiding her in her life every step; sleeping with a rosary safely in her hands each night. In her later years, Sandy enjoyed going to "The Club" at the Medfield Senior Center, where she looked forward to music activities.
