Shawn Michael Koulopoulos

Shawn Michael Koulopoulos, age 40, passed away in his Bellingham, Massachusetts home on Saturday, October 31, 2020. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts on July 30, 1980, he was the son of Glenn and Catherine (Pavento) Koulopoulos. He was raised in Bellingham, Massachusetts, where he found his love for football at an early age. During his high school career, Shawn was elected Captain of the 1998 football team, leading the Blackhawks to win the Superbowl. In addition to his standout athleticism on the gridiron, Shawn also competed in power lifting and track before his graduation with the Class of 1999.

Following his graduation, Shawn took a position with Avery Dennison in Holliston, working in the warehouse. He later took a position with the Boston Group in Franklin. Shawn remained with the company through the name change, when it became the New England Group, maintaining his position in the warehouse for several years.

Shawn married Leanne Murphy at the United Church in her hometown of Walpole. Together they made their home in Bellingham, where they welcomed two children, Ryan and Emily. In 2015, Shawn and Leanne moved their family to Walpole, Massachusetts, where Shawn took an active role in his new community, joining the Walpole Lions Club. More recently, Shawn returned to his hometown of Bellingham.

Shawn had a lifelong love for sports, which began in his early years. He began playing in an over 30 softball league, enjoying time spent with his teammates, and looked forward to casting his fishing rod into the water year round. His love for football transcended from playing on the field to setting up in his living room to cheer for his beloved New England Patriots, complete with ice cold beer and hot wings.

Most of all, Shawn loved to have fun, goofing around with his two kids. Ryan and Emily were his world and he would do anything for them.

Former husband and dear friend of Leanne Murphy of Walpole.

Devoted son of Catherine (Pavento) Koulopoulos of Bellingham and the late Glenn Alan Koulopoulos.

Brother of Craig Koulopoulos and his wife, Jen, of Danvers and Nathan Koulopoulos of Bellingham.

Cherished uncle of Mia, Jane, and Annie.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Shawn's Life Celebration on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 4 to 8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

As a result of the ongoing and ever developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Shawn's family has decided that his service and interment in Terrace Hill Cemetery in Walpole will be private.
