Stephen R. Tarbell, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on June 3, 1958, he was the son of the late Lester J. and Hazel R. (Randall) Tarbell. He was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, where he attended Walpole High School, before graduating from Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire with the Class of 1976. Stephen continued his education at Ithaca College, earning his bachelors degree in 1980. Upon his return home to Walpole, Stephen took a position with Service Merchandise in Natick.
While working at Service Merchandise, Stephen met his wife to be, Donna L. Wilber. Stephen and Donna were married on May 21, 1988, in the Union Congregational Church in East Walpole. The couple made their home together in Walpole, and Stephen went on to work as a store manager with CVS and Blockbuster Video in various locations and Rocky's Ace Hardware in Walpole, helping customers with their projects.
When he wasn't hard at work, Stephen enjoyed spending the day on a golf course with his buddies, sharing laughs along the way. He loved to spend his summers on Welch Island on Lake Winnipesaukee at the cabin he helped build with his dad, Never Too Late, and he looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Pierce Pond in Maine, casting his line into the water to try his luck. Back at home, as an avid Boston sports fan, Stephen could be found cheering for his beloved Patriots with his dad as season ticket holders for many years. He and his friend Jerry, most years found their way into Fenway for the Red Sox opening day. More than anything, Stephen loved being surrounded by his family, treasuring the time spent with his nieces and nephews, as well as their children.
