Timothy Michael Hastings, age 69, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Born at the US Army Garrison Wiesbaden, Germany, on September 12, 1955, he was the son of the late William F. and Janet A. (Tichyno) Hastings.
Following Bill's discharge, the Hastings family moved back stateside, settling in East Walpole, where Tim grew up just down the street from Bird Park. As a young boy, Tim developed a love for sports, lacing up his skates and heading to the Pinnacle in East Walpole for a hockey game with friends. Tim went on to be an exceptional hockey player at Walpole High School, showcasing his skills not only on the ice but also the baseball diamond, joining the ranks of the varsity teams. In addition to playing for the high school, Tim earned a spot with the Jr. A Hockey program.
Following his graduation in 1973, Tim proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. After his basic training, Tim shipped out overseas to be stationed in Vietnam, supporting the war effort as an Airman First Class. Specifically, Tim was a gunman aboard a helicopter. Two years after enlisting, Tim was honorably discharged and returned home to East Walpole. However, Tim's dedication to his country did not end stateside, as he remained active with the Air Force Reserve, training in Peace Air Force Base in New Hampshire for an additional two years. Tim was very proud of his service to his country and carried the lessons he learned throughout his life.
Upon returning home, Tim connected with Lori J. White, setting the stage for a beautiful life together. Tim and Lori were married on February 18, 1984, at the United Church in Walpole, and made their home together in Wrentham. As a newly married man, Tim took several business classes at Fisher College, building a strong foundation for his career. Tim and Lori were blessed with two children, Ben and Emily, and realizing the family needed a bit more space, decided to settle in Norton, Massachusetts to raise their son and daughter. After settling in, Tim was immediately active in the athletic community and took on multiple coaching roles over the years. He brought his insight to Norton Youth Baseball, serving as a coach of the All-Star Team that he brought to Cooperstown, in addition to serving as a coach for AAU Baseball, traveling throughout New England. Tim founded the Norton Middle School Hockey Program in 1999, coaching his team and watching them develop into a high school organization.
Tim worked with ServiceMaster by Gilmore for 32 years. He was a pillar of the company who played an integral part in building the corporation from a small business to one of the largest ServiceMaster’s in the country. Tim began his career in business development and quickly proved to be adept at several skill sets. He was promoted within the first year to General Manager of Operations where he oversaw the Production Department and found his true calling on the Operations side of the business.
Tim's extensive knowledge and training added to his already confident persona which inspired coworkers and reassured customers, many of whom were going through very difficult times in their own lives after experiencing fires and disasters. Affable and always ready with a laugh, you know that when Tim was on the job you were getting the best of the best from someone who always got the job done. Earlier this year, Tim decided it was time to semi-retire, cutting back from five days a week to three days a week, finding that he preferred his weekends to start Thursday afternoon.
Tim worked hard to provide a beautiful life for his family, whom he always put first. He cherished every moment that he spent with his wife, whether over a cocktail or a home cooked meal that was inspired by a cooking show that he watched. Tim was his kid’s biggest cheerleader, supporting them in all their events, games, and competitions. The title of Babba was easily his favorite, taking any opportunity to be with Theodore and Callahan, showing them all the love and affection. Tim's family extended beyond his wife, kids, and grandkids, encompassing his beloved yellow labrador retrievers that brought him so much happiness over the years.
