Virginia Malone Davis

Virginia Malone "Ginger" Davis, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 11, 2025, at her home in Walpole, Massachusetts. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 5, 1951, she was the daughter of Bernard Joseph and Elizabeth Marie (Burgess) Malone. Ginger was raised in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston and graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School in Boston with the class of 1969.

After graduation Ginger began working for the John Hancock Insurance Company as a secretary and eventually left the city for the suburbs, landing in Canton, Massachusetts. Ginger remained with the company until the spring of 1983, becoming a homemaker after welcoming her son Eric. As Eric entered elementary school, Ginger returned to her education, taking classes at Mass Bay Community College. Her hard work paid off when she graduated with her associate’s degree in nursing and passed her state exams to become a Licensed Nurse. Ginger's new career took her to several different doctors’ offices over the next two decades; taking vitals, drawing blood, and ensuring that the patients she helped see received the best care possible. In her free time, Ginger enjoyed many vacations to the beautiful island of Saint Maarten. She spent as much time there as she could, introducing her son to a love for the beach and the ocean. More recently, Ginger moved to the neighboring town of Walpole, Massachusetts, where she enjoyed her retirement.

Ginger was an energetic, outgoing, and funny woman all of her life. She had a great sense of humor, and her quick wit made everyone, including herself, laugh all the time. A very social woman, she enjoyed waitressing at local restaurants, giving her a chance to meet new people and start new conversations every day. Her family was incredibly important to her, and she especially appreciated the holidays. She hosted Christmas Eve gatherings and always cherished talking, laughing, and enjoying family on the holidays. Hosting Thanksgiving became extra special once she became a Nana to her beloved Cullen and Johanna. She looked forward to being a grandmother, and any time spent with her grandchildren filled her life with joy. Visits from Eric, Sharon, and the kids were special times that she truly treasured.

Loving mother of Eric Paul Davis and his life partner Sharon Lee Moran of Burlington, Vermont.

Cherished grandmother of Cullen James Davis and Johanna Elizabeth Davis.

Sister of Mary Somers and her husband Jeffrey of Westwood, Janice Ledwith and her husband Edward of Mashpee, the late John Malone, and the late James Malone.

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Ginger's visitation on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
