Virginia (Ginny) I. Olshan, 95, of Walpole, formerly of Norwood, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones, on April 11, 2026. Ginny was the beloved wife of the late Joseph R. Olshan, who pre-deceased her in 2006.
Ginny was born and raised in Boston and married Joe in Boston in 1952. Throughout her life, Ginny was the devoted mother of Gary and David Olshan, both of Newton; Nancy (Olshan) Paige and her husband, Stephen, of Shrewsbury; and Patricia Olshan of Brookline. She was the cherished “Grammy” to Nancy’s daughters, Rachel of Irvine, California; Laura and her husband, George, of Los Angeles, California; and Emily of Brighton. In 2025, Ginny was so blessed to become a great-grammy to Henry of Los Angeles, California.
Ginny worked for the Social Security Administration in Boston and later in life for Attorneys Connor and Hilliard in Walpole for 14 years. She volunteered for many years with the Women’s Community Committee in Norwood, was a longtime member of the Walpole Women’s Club and a regular at the Walpole Senior Center. The friendships and connections she made here meant the world to her! She was also a handbell ringer for many years at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. Ginny was an avid reader, a lifelong learner, and a world traveler with her “Joe”, especially to their homes on Cape Cod and in Ireland. She was a lover of all animals, in particular her beloved Shetland sheepdogs, Shannon and April, who all walked the streets of Walpole for many years.
Visitation and a Celebration of Ginny’s life will be held at James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole on Friday, April 17, 2026 beginning at 9:00 am. Burial will be private within Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, Ginny has requested that donations be made in her name to the Animal Rescue League of Boston at 10 Chandler Street, Boston, MA 02116.
