Frances D. (Curran) Palmieri

December 23, 1932 ~ May 19, 2021 (age 88)

Frances D. (Curran) Palmieri, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 23, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Alice G. (Devine) Curran.  She was raised in the South End of Boston. Frances was a proud graduate of the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing earning her Registered Nurse Certificate in 1953.  Following her graduation, Fran took her first position as an RN with Boston City Hospital.
Fran married her beloved husband, Armando B. Palmieri, in June of 1954.  After a short time in Somerville they finally settled in Walpole, Massachusetts, where Fran and Armando raised, cared for, and supported their five children.   Fran later returned to her career in healthcare, taking a nursing position at Norwood Nursing and Retirement.  She went on to serve as the Director of Nursing at the Colonial Care Nursing Home in Norwood where she earned National recognition for her work as a Director of Nursing.
Fran was creative in many ways but was most passionate about art. She was an accomplished watercolorist and oil painter.   She enjoyed displaying her works and loved visiting galleries. In her retirement she looked forward to weekly painting sessions with her friends (even transforming a room in her home into an Art Room). It especially brought her joy to create paintings for those she cared for and loved. Her face would light with happiness as a painting was unwrapped.  Her artwork is proudly displayed in households across the nation.
Fran enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her husband, Armando.  She had fun trying her luck at the casinos in Las Vegas and Connecticut.  Back at home, Fran looked forward to a day of shopping, mostly for others, or giving back to her community through her volunteer work.  She loved to throw a party, large or small and her home was a place filled with love and laughter. All were welcomed and she made everyone feel special.
Most of all, Fran will be remembered for her compassionate, caring spirit and her fierce love of family. She was most happy when she was spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She touched the lives of many, taking care of countless people throughout her life, professionally and personally. Fran was kind and strong and a very progressive thinking woman; a mentor to many and amazing mother and role model.
