Stephen R. Ciapciak, age 62, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy and courageous battle from health complications. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 13, 1957, he was the son of the late Mary (Dolan) Ciapciak and the son of Roman Ciapciak who lives with his wife Adrienne in Norwood, Massachusetts.
The two constants in Steve’s life were his love and devotion to his children, as well as his love of sports, as a player, coach and a fan of all Boston sports teams. Steve was raised in Norwood, where he learned at an early age how to balance his strong work ethic with fun. It was playing as a Norwood Nugget that he discovered his passion for ice hockey, continuing to play at Xaverian Brothers High School and then as three-year captain at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston. Steve, a talented writer, athlete and honor student also served as his high school’s newspaper editor before graduating in 1975.
Steve’s passion and talents were recognized at Mass College of Pharmacy where, in addition to serving as 3-year hockey captain, he was editor of the newspaper, president of his class and later also coached his hockey team. Steve was honored as an inductee into the Who’s Who in Colleges and Universities. Steve, always looking to take on a new challenge, ran and finished the Boston Marathon alongside his brother.
Steve began his career as a pharmacist, but later transitioned to hearing aid consultant and part owner of Miracle Ear in Norwood where he worked for 35 years taking great joy in helping people regain their hearing. Steve was truly devoted to his three children, Courtney, Steve, Jr., and Kelly, always taking a coaching position for any sport they played, including, little league, softball, basketball, and lacrosse. An avid reader and lover of music, songs from his favorite artist, Elton John, brought him joy even in his final days.
A wonderful, kind, attentive father, brother, son, uncle and friend, Steve will be deeply missed by all who will remember him as a selfless, sincere, compassionate man who could warm up a room with his smile, conversation, laughter and quick wit.
